Julie Umerle is a contemporary artist who lives and works in East London.
She studied fine art at Parsons School of Design in New York City and at
Falmouth University, Cornwall.
Umerle makes work that explores the processes of abstract painting. Her practice
is an investigation of materials and perception of the image, combining an
experimental approach to materials with precision and thought.
Umerle is the recipient of a number of awards from Arts Council England. Her
work is represented in several museum and private collections.
